The ribbon is the most common and necessary part of the Russian award system. Being introduced by the USSR, sashes were introduced by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 19, 1943.
During the years of the Great Patriotic War and up to our time, it is used to fit pentagonal and rectangular blocks for signs, medals and orders, as well as for straps worn instead of awards. At the same time, cross-shoulder ribbons were not used - order blocks were fitted with an order ribbon, with the help of which orders are attached to clothes. To wear instead of orders and medals only their ribbons, special rectangular order strips were installed, covered with an order ribbon, respectively.

Будучи введенной
СССР орденские ленты была введена указом Президиума Верховного Совета СССР от 19 июня 1943 года.
В годы великой Отечественной Войны и до нашего времени, она используется для обтягивания пятиугольных и прямоугольных колодок к знакам, медалям и орденам, в так же для планок носимых вместо наград. При этом чрезплечные ленты не использовались - орденской лентой обтягивались орденские колодки, при помощи которых ордена прикрепляются к одежде. Для ношения вместо орденов и медалей только их лент были установлены специальные прямоугольные орденские планки, обтянутые соответственно орденской лентой.
